to say words like s h i t, or d a m n, or a s s, f u c k?
just curious, I always hear the church going people telling me it's not right and God doesn't like it and that it's considered cursing... but where in the Bible does it one time say you cant say those words? I truly believe the only curse words are GD... can't stand that myself.
Also, it really kills me when somebody will say CRAP instead of s h i t...i mean it's the exact same meaning and everything...
Personally, it doesnt bother me, they are words that are to be used in a certain time or place, locker room talk if you will. What makes a word offensive is the definition it is given. As most would think, GD does cross the boundary of using God name in vain (sp). But to hear someone curse in SPansih if you do not speak Spainish, means nothing to you. I personally use many slang words for various terms that are quite "dirty" in their definition to me, but to others they are normal everyday words. I wouldnt believe or say that those words are right or wrong, rather than appropriate and inappropriate.
Thats just my view.

I believe it is wrong to use curse words no matter the situation. Have you ever heard someone claiming Christ as their savior curse? I have and believe me it doesn't sound good or look good when a sinner sees that as your personality or character. Especially when the christian is to set a example of Christ. Who is HOLY and GODLY, without sin or blemish. We are to be Christ like.
The Bible says it is not what goes in a man that defiles him but what comes out of a man.
Then 99.9% that comes out of a person is that. Like I said, most of those words are from another language, Latin, Germanic, Greek etc. that have other usages beyond the one we attach. Ill give an example, I was around some kids once and they kept sayin "poke" in reference to girls, I was like what they talking about, you can imagine my surprise when I found out, now is "poke" the same as using the "F" word in reference to sex? Should poke be considered in the same line as other curse words? Someone mentioned the word "crap", what makes the "s" word that describes the same definition for excrement or fecies? (sp)
Its the conotation we hand on those, I see more peopl who claim to be Christ like or attemptin to be, that makes me wonder, worse than using a slang word for manure.
Like I said though, people use it and I do from time to time myself, but is it everyday language? I think not.
I think most people get confused on foul language and curse words. Most words being talked about are more foul language.
Curse words are exactly what the main word means "CURSE". To curse someone in saying "I hope they ......" or "Go to H.E.L.L." Or any other way you wish bad on another. That is cursing someone.
As for the foul language, there are always better words we can use to describe something. Also and mainly it is how the word is used. Hope I got this across clearly.

I am not saying that any man is perfect and without sin. But one who is born again wants correction and to live a more Godly life. You are a new man, put away the old. You don't want or have the same bad sinful nature. Anyone who is not born again doesn't even think twice about the words they use or the thoughts they think. It is just natural for them to sin. Many don't even see the sin they do. Whether it be an outward word or an inward thought. I am far from one to say I am perfect, I let my temper get the best of me many times and let words come out of my mouth. There is a difference in one who is a sinner and says whatever they want, and one who is claiming christ as their savior and out in a crowd curse or use other words meaning the same thing. One who is spirit filled should not do such things. How can christians ever reach the lost if they live their lives lost in sin theirself?

but who made the decision to classify those words as "sin"?
there is not one verse in the bible that says, dont say the s h i t, or d a m n, or a s s, or f u c k... not one verse
man classified those as a sin, man of modern time to be honest about it.

Modern man did choose the way we speak today, you are right. I am sure way before our time certain words were considered bad or curse words, words one shouldn't say.
As far as scripture is concerned, the Bible teaches that once a sinner is born again then you seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. For the scripture says you need not man to teach you only but the Spirit of God. So once you are born again then you will feel a change in your heart but you are a new creation in the sight of God. If one will seek God then his Spirit will let you know what is right and what is wrong in all things. I don't think a Holy man of God would use such garbage language, for one God will not put those words in your mouth if they are wrong for us to speak. So really one don't need to depend on just man for guidance, we need the Holy Spirit to teach us right from wrong.
